Location refers to the location of something in space, reflecting the interconnection and interaction in space between various geographical elements in nature and human socio-economic activities.
The well-known CBD and Administrative Center are the core manifestations of Location Theory.
In 1826, German economic geographer Du Nen published his work "Isolated States", which was the beginning of Location Theory. Du Nen was called the "Father Of Location Theory". He analyzed the relationship between spatial distribution and market, and proposed Du Nen's ring to interpret the meaning of location.
In 1933, on the basis of Location Theory, Christaler published "The Theory of the Center of the Map," which is called the Central Place Theory. This theory uses systematic scientific concepts and mathematical calculations to explain the size of human gathering areas and location distribution patterns.
Tobler proposed the first law of geography in 1970: the distance decay rate of spatial relationships in economic activities.
